Well, day 2 is upon me, and I'm up early, 6:30, so I am ready to work out by 7. I really wanted to do the Quick Start workout to make it easy on myself, but I decide that is not a fair trial, so I do the full-length, 39-minute workout. Today I'm using the Core Rhythms Dance Exercise Program, led by Jaana Kunitz and Julia Powers.
The first thing I realize as I'm warming up is, I'm sore from yesterday's Billy Blanks workout. Not only is my core sore, my back is sore. I'm not sure this is a good thing, but obviously some new muscles got worked yesterday.
If you decide to buy this DVD, do the Kick Start first, or you're going to be lost.
As for me, I'm sweating three minutes into this workout, so I know it's working. There are a few times I get lost -- thank God no one can see me -- and I'm boosted by my teenage daughter poking her head in and saying, "That's creepy." Thanks, baby.
I realize one mistake I made pretty early on: I forgot to bring water. I regret this throughout the entire workout. Note to self: Don't forget the water! I basically enjoyed this workout, although I must say that Julia Powers makes some whack-a-doodle gestures with her mouth. She also reminds me ever so slightly of Natasha on "Rocky & Bullwinkle," with her accent. But never mind, this was a decent workout, and it definitely focuses on the core, which is where I need to lose weight. Best of all, it's not even 8 a.m., and I have finished my workout without leaving home.
Tonight is Bunco night, with me, 11 other ladies, and a spread of food and drinks fit for an army. I am hoping our host is not an overachiever, who has to have every bad-for-you food known to man. I am determined to eat well throughout the day, so maybe I can have a little leeway tonight.
Okay, so I'm home, and I survived Bunco! -- which I'm renaming "Butt-grow," because there's so much bad-for-you food served, although tonight was kind of lighter on food than usual. I consumed a little more than I should today (slightly over 1,800 calories), but I'm not too worried about it. I feel okay, although my back is hurting, and I'm pleasantly tired. If you have any good tips on how to curb overeating at social gatherings, please post and let me know.
Here's my eating journal for today. Bed now, then Body Band workout in the morning.
