Okay, I kind of cheated. Not exactly, but sort of. I woke up at 6 but didn't get out of bed until 7. So sue me. It was too late to exercise, so I decided I'd do it later. I really meant to do the Body Band DVD today, but after I had gotten everybody off to school, I met my friend, Kelly, at the lake and walked for 35 minutes at a brisk pace. By the time I got home and ready to hit it, it was almost 11:30. I blame Kelly. (sorry, Kell.)
So I gave myself a pass on Body Band and did 10 Minute Solution Six Pack Abs instead. That's not really cheating, is it?
The best thing about the 10 Minute Solution DVD is obviously that it's fast. That means, however, you get about 15 seconds of stretching, and you start. It seems that every fitness DVD feels obligated to throw in stretching, however cursory it might be; I wish they would just say, "Go jump rope for 5 minutes before starting" or tell you to run around the block first, so you can really warm up.
At any rate, I was warmed up from the walk, so I didn't have a problem getting right into it. The Six Pack Abs section is devoted to abs, and it's all done on the floor, so you need some kind of mat or rug to be on.
I start out with the 15-second stretch, and then she has me on my back, pulling toward the ceiling, and the pain hits immediately. I am sore in my core, let me tell you. This makes me happy, because it means all this stuff is working, but I am also panting like it's Lamaze class by the time we get five minutes into it. Because it's so short, you would think it should fly by, but when you're sore, nothing flies by. 10 long and painful minutes later, I am finished.
If you have any short fitness DVD's, please post and let me know about them. I am always looking for a shortcut on days when I have little time.
It's 11:30 a.m. now, and I am done working out for today. Yay! I have a list a mile long to get done, so it's off to shower & get some lunch, then I can tackle the tasks.
It ended up being an extremely busy, long day. I made a bunch of real estate-related calls (I'm taking a class), then had an early dinner, took the girls out to 5 Below as a reward for A's on quizzes, then Food Lion, then we all did homework until 9:10 p.m. When 8:30 hit, I was so hungry, I couldn't take it, so I had a small sandwich while supervising homework and watching "Survivor". Russell is an evil genius, don't you think?
By the way, here's a little secret your skinny friends who eat 1,200 or 1,300 calories a day won't tell you: They're HUNGRY. Don't hate them, feel sorry for them.
I'm off to bed now, and up for Body Band in the morning. Here's my eating journal for today.
